Metal Molders and Asbestos
One of the areas where asbestos was often used was in the metal industry where asbestos was combined with various metals for its many beneficial properties. Unfortunately, during this process of combining asbestos with metal, molders were often exposed to large amounts of asbestos dust and often contracted Mesothelioma. Although asbestos is no longer used in these industries, there are still many lawsuits about negligence with regards to asbestos exposure.
Exposure to Asbestos
When metal molders were melting the metal and pouring this into the moulds, they would often be exposed to the asbestos that was added. In these circumstances, a large amount of asbestos dust would often be released into the atmosphere, and metal molders were at risk of inhaling this.
Risks When Metal Molders Inhale Asbestos Dust
Asbestos dust, when inhaled, is a deadly carcinogen leading to a type of cancer known as Mesothelioma. Since metal molders often worked in an environment where there was a large amount of this dust, they would often contract Mesothelioma. This disease would attack the lining of their lungs, stomach, and heart and eventually lead to death.
Metal Molders’ Asbestos Lawsuits
Today, lawsuits regarding exposure to asbestos containing materials are quite prevalent. If you feel that the company where you worked as a metal molder was negligent in allowing you to be exposed to this dust, then you can seek legal action.
