Asbestos was often used in the construction industry in a number of different products and although it was not usually used in paint, painters often were required to paint over asbestos-containing materials. Painters working on buildings are required to prepare the surface that is to be painted by scraping, sanding, filling, or caulking it. They also have to paint the surface and perhaps even mix the paint that they require.
