Abstract:OSHA is hereby extending the partial administrative stay of therevised final standards for occupational exposure to asbestos,tremolite, anthophyllite and actinolite for general industry [1910.1001] and construction [1926.58], insofar as they apply tooccupational exposure to non-asbestiform tremolite, anthophylliteand actinolite. The current partial stay, originally set to expireon April 21, 1987 and extended until July 21, 1988, is being furtherextended until July 21, 1989 to allow OSHA to conduct supplementalrulemaking limited to the issue of whether non-asbestiformtremolite, anthophyllite and actinolite should continue to beregulated in the same standard as asbestos, or should be treated insome other way. OSHA also is making minor conforming amendments tonotes to the affected standands.
